Dr David Banks (PhD, MA, BSc (Hons), DMS, Grad Cert Ed, RNT, RMN, RGN) is a Lecturer in the Nursing Division. He is also a full member Centre for Person-centred Practice Research.

Quality Assurance: I have considerable experience of postgraduate and undergraduate programme and subject review, including validation and professional accreditation, at four UK universities other than QMU. In 2014/15 I served as an expert panel member for Sheffield Hallam University for NMC Review of their BSc Nursing Undergraduate Programme. I have previously served as an external examiner for at Manchester University and Ulster University. I currently serve as external examiner for the MSc Programme Mental Health, Recovery and Social Inclusion at Hertfordshire University.
Teaching:
I am the research lead for undergraduate programmes. I teach across school and division undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including a variety of distance learning and blended curricula. My teaching is chiefly focused around mental health, project management and research methods.

My research and publication broadly relate to identity, participative citizenship, exclusion and professional issues around health practice. I have specific interests in mental health and ethnicity. Current projects include revisiting Heron and the concept of patient centeredness.
