Prince's Trust Explore Enterprise - 5 and 8 February 2020

Prince's Trust Enterprise Programme helps 18 to 30 year olds turn their big ideas into a business reality.

We're delighted to welcome the Prince's Trust to QMU to run their stage 2 programme, Explore Enterprise, over two days.

Day one will cover: 

  • employment versus self-employment
  • business plans
  • managing tax and business money in a start-up,
  • managing personal money

Day two will cover:

  • marketing, 
  • an introduction to sales and customer service.

Participants will also hear the first-hand experience of a successful course attendee.

Prince's Turst aims to help you become the best entrepreneur you can be.  Complete Explore Enterprise and you may take part in stage 3, Build Your Business.

Build Your Own Website - 19 February 2020

This workshop will take you right from the beginning in curating your business website.  From the need to determine website objectives, the importance of knowing who your audience is, setting clear calls to action and creating engaging content to measuring success.  It will help you start to create your brand's visual identity online, your site's blueprint and how you can structure your site map.  You will learn what's involved in registering and maintaining your site content and options for hosting it.

This workshop will also offer guidance on when and how to outsource your website's creation to a designer.  Covering topics such as where to find a contractor, what to organise first, your structure plan and costs.

Business Idea Generation workshop - 26 February 2020

The aim of this interactive workshop is to stimulate innovative thinking and explore how ideas can be turned into viable business opportunities.  The workshop will cover the following areas:

  • Where do ideas come from?
  • Different types of innovation, 
  • Learning from failure
  • Pitching

Participants will work in small groups and will be asked to brainstorm solutions to provided problems and consider how their ideas could be turned into viable business propositions. The session will also include a pitching exercise.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who is interested in innovation and new entrepreneurship.

Social Entrepreneurs Trade Up Programme - 4 March 2020

Converge Information Sessions: 11 and 18 March 2020

The Converge team will visit QMU for these two sessions.  The first on 11 March will be for staff, students and recent graduates who are considering applying to Converge.  The team will take you through the various stages of the programme, entry criteria and application process.  In addition they will deconstruct the application form and highlight key aspects as well as provide applicants with hints and tips on how to make their applications stand out from the crowd.

Relevant case studies and practical examples will be used throughout the session to demonstrate howto effectively present a business proposition.  The session will also explain the judging criteria and selection process.

Find out how some of your favourite apps can transform your business.  Learn which type of audience you can reach via each platform and how factors such as cost and timing of posting images and analytics can maximise impact.

Discover the basic do's and don'ts of taking our own pictures, processing them and uploading them onto digital platforms.  See some real life examples of posts that demonstrate good, bad and indifferent use.
